TRAILS CLOSED Saturday: Due to heavy rains and to protect trails from degradation, our natural surface trails will be closed on Saturday, 9-16-23. Our Canyon Floor Trail (decomposed granite 1/4 mile long) will be open. Our indoor bird viewing, Nature Play and gift shop will also be open.
Register for our hiking trails in advance of your visit. All hikers must be registered and checked in at the gift shop prior to accessing the trails behind our building.
During seasons of inclement or extreme weather conditions (spring rain & mud, summer extreme heat, strong winds, winter ice), check our Facebook page for trail status.
Why do we close trails when they are saturated? Some of our trails are dangerously slippery when wet, and closing the trails protects them from accelerated and costly erosion. We can open our Canyon Floor Trail more quickly due to its composition. We are fundraising to make improvements to the West Loop and Dogwood Trails that would enable us to open them more quickly after it rains, providing access to the canyon during its most beautiful and peaceful time with trickling streams and the song of spring. To contribute to this project, make a donation here. Thank you!
Volunteering is an exciting and rewarding way to participate with Audubon.
We offer summer camp, kayaking programs, birding classes, guided hikes, and more.
Come join our staff and help us carry out our efforts to conserve and restore natural ecosystems to benefit both humanity and the earth’s biological diversity!
