Our TEKS-aligned field trip for small school groups

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Program Description

*Please note, we are in the process of updating our field trip experience for you!

Our current Field Trip Program includes three parts: 1. an activity to engage students in a connection to nature, 2. a reptile encounter, and 3. a nature hike.

The activities can include one of the following: (These are all TEKS aligned)
  1. Making seed balls for use at the Center.
  2. Hispanic Conservation Hero: Louis Fuertes - You learn about the artwork created by this Hispanic artist that helped bring awareness to bird conservation. Students will be able to create their own art inspired by Louis Fuertes' work.
  3. Bird Hurdles - An active conservation themed obstacle course that teaches students what struggles birds must overcome to survive a single day.

The reptile encounter will include two reptiles and an invertebrate that they get to see up close and personal.

The hike is on our trails and is weather dependent.

We are accepting groups of 30 children or less only, at this time.

Our pricing is $10 per child.

We require a 1:10 chaperone rate. So you'd need at least three adults, 4 chaperones would be included in the price for the children, more than that would be an additional charge of $10.

Special program customization is available to address specific student expectations and/or benchmarks. We can also bring this program to your campus with appropriate alterations based on your natural resources.
